Athlete Lab is KTLYST’s performance training system, designed to support athletes through every stage of their athletic journey—from learning how to train, to training at a high level, to preparing for professional demands. Development doesn’t happen all at once, and athletes shouldn’t be trained as if it does.
Across all age groups, the training principles stay the same—strength, speed, movement quality, injury prevention, and long-term development. What changes is how those principles are applied based on the athlete’s age, experience, workload, and competitive demands.
For middle school athletes, training begins in our Middle School Strength Lab, where the focus is on learning to train. This phase is about building safe movement patterns, coordination, foundational strength, and muscular endurance while prioritizing injury prevention during key growth years. The goal is not to rush performance, but to establish habits and movement quality that athletes can safely build on as their bodies mature.
As athletes progress into high school and college, they transition into Athlete Lab, where the emphasis shifts to training to train. At this stage, athletes follow more structured and sport-specific strength and conditioning, targeted speed and agility development, and intelligent workload management that evolves between in-season and off-season demands. The environment mirrors what athletes will experience at higher levels of sport, helping them adapt sooner, train with intent, and stay available when it matters most.
For professional and elite-level athletes, KTLYST offers fully individualized private performance training. These sessions are built around competition and travel schedules, performance goals, and recovery needs, with seamless integration between training, rehab, and recovery. This allows for precise control of workload and preparation while maintaining the same performance standards used throughout Athlete Lab—just delivered at the highest level of individualization.
Every athlete at KTLYST begins with a biometric performance profile conducted in partnership with Steve Fell and Performance Science + Rehab located inside KTLYST. This evaluation uses sports science technologies and testing protocols found in world-class professional environments, including those used by Steve in his role with the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team. The assessment identifies movement asymmetries, joint stability, and how an athlete produces and absorbs force during acceleration, deceleration, and sport-specific movements.
This data allows us to determine each athlete’s true starting point, scaffold areas of need, and reduce injury risk while building a foundation for long-term strength and performance. At KTLYST, rehab is training and training is rehab—every phase supports the next so athletes can progress with confidence rather than guesswork.
Athlete Lab is not a one-size-fits-all program or a short-term off season clinic. It is a long-term system built on professional coaching, sports science, and purposeful progression. If you’re looking for an environment that develops strength, performance, and resilience at every stage—not just for the next season, but for what comes after—this is where that path begins.
Talent can open the door — preparation determines how far you go.
KTLYST Athlete Lab is where athletes in St. Johns County train with purpose, develop real strength and speed, and build the durability needed to stay available throughout their season and beyond. Whether you’re learning how to train, preparing for higher levels of competition, or refining performance at an elite level, Athlete Lab provides a clear, guided path forward.
Our programs are intentionally limited in size to protect coaching quality, individualized attention, and access to recovery and sports science resources. With a finite number of training slots available, availability can change quickly as athletes move between in-season and off-season phases.
If you’re considering Athlete Lab, the best next step is to come see the environment, meet the coaches, and talk through what makes sense for your athlete right now.
Athletes don’t train the same year-round—and they shouldn’t be coached that way.
Our programs adjust intelligently in-season and off-season, managing workload while building:
Everything we do is designed to transfer directly to sport, not compete with practices and games.
There’s no cookie-cutter programming here.
Each athlete trains within an adaptive performance system built around:
Programs are delivered through small-group classes (max 10 athletes), 1-on-1 training, or a blend of both—ensuring real coaching, not just supervision.
Athlete Lab memberships provide:
Every Athlete Lab membership begins with a biometric performance profile performed by PS+R designed by Steve Fell, US Men’s Soccer National Team Performance Coach and Owner of Performance Science + Rehab.
This assessment identifies:
That data drives a fully individualized plan, including training, recovery, warm-ups, and clear goal setting.
Every session is led by professional strength & conditioning coaches who actively coach, guide, and adjust athletes through the program.
We don’t just tell athletes what to do—we teach them why they’re doing it. This education builds:
For athletes aspiring for college or professional athletic careers, this approach mirrors what will be expected at the next level—helping them adapt sooner and perform with confidence.
Athlete Lab operates on a flexible session-based model, allowing athletes to mix and match sessions that fit their schedule each week.
Athletes train when they need it—without sacrificing structure or progression.
KTLYST’s Middle School Strength Lab was developed in collaboration with local middle school teams across St. Johns County to meet the growing need for safe, structured strength training for athletes ages 10–13 (rising 6th–8th grade).
This program focuses on teaching young athletes how to train correctly—not just harder. Athletes build a foundation in strength, coordination, stability, mobility, and balance, all of which are essential for improved performance and long-term athletic development.
When properly coached and age-appropriate, strength training plays a critical role in both performance and injury risk reduction. Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that supervised strength training can significantly reduce sports-related injuries in youth athletes.
Our Middle School Strength Lab helps athletes:
Rather than overloading young athletes, our training supports the physical demands of practices, games, and tournaments, helping them perform consistently throughout the season.
Athletes in our program participate in a wide range of sports across St. Augustine and St. Johns County, including football, baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, track, lacrosse, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, tennis, golf, swimming, and more.
To start training is intentionally generalized, with occasional sport-specificity, allowing athletes to move better, get stronger, and stay healthier regardless of their primary sport. As they adapt the training and program will as well to meet their new needs.
Each athlete is guided by experienced coaches using individual assessments and progressive programming to ensure training remains safe, effective, and appropriate for their stage of development. As athletes demonstrate competency in foundational movements, they have a clear pathway to progress into our Athlete Lab programs as they get older.
If you’re looking for middle school strength training in St. Augustine or St. Johns County that prioritizes performance, safety, and long-term development, the Middle School Strength Lab provides a proven system—not a one-size-fits-all approach.
